2-DAY URBAN BUSHVELD ADVENTURE:

The Buffalo Boys Camp

Pre-tween and pre-teen emotional development and resilience.

A thrilling journey into the wild right in the heart of Northern Johannesburg. Designed for boys aged 8-12, this camp is a brief yet impactful escape into nature, focusing on cultivating resilience, adaptability, communication, leadership skills and an excitement for being outdoors.

Guided by our experienced team, your child's experience is crafted for growth, adventure, and skill-building. We do not push any religious beliefs but teach inclusion and respect for all perspectives. It's a safe and nurturing environment for personal growth.

  • In the evenings, campfires foster camaraderie and provide the setting for meaningful discussions where we reflect on the day and create actionable steps forward for their lives. Campers share stories, forge new friendships, and participate in engaging conversations that expand their horizons.

  • One of the standout features of our camp is the emphasis on peer-to-peer reflection. We believe that young campers have valuable insights and experiences to share with each other. Through group discussions, team activities, and shared challenges, campers have the opportunity to reflect on their adventures, exchange thoughts, and learn from each other. This peer-to-peer interaction not only enhances their communication skills but also builds empathy and a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives.

  • In today's digital age, it's crucial for children to take a break from screens and devices. During our 2-day adventure, campers will have a unique opportunity to disconnect from technology and reconnect with the natural world. This digital detox allows them to fully immerse themselves in the outdoor experience, enhancing their focus, creativity, and social skills. It's a chance to step away from the virtual world and embrace the real one, fostering a deeper connection with nature and their fellow campers.

  • Our campers will engage in activities that emphasize teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability. Discovering their strengths for themselves in fun challenges like the wilderness relay race. They'll discover the importance of maintaining a clean and organized campsite, learning valuable life skills like cleaning up after themselves while building resilience and the ability to adapt to new environments.

  • Each day immerses the boys with a hands-on experience, where campers learn essential life skills and outdoor skills like how to communicate effectively with peers and adults, regulate our emotions and have emotional resilience through to setting up camp, building a fire, and cooking meals over an open flame. These practical lessons not only provide valuable survival skills but also instill a sense of independence and self- reliance.

  • After welcome and walking into the campsite they'll dive into our engaging adventure relay race, fostering teamwork and a sense of achievement. Sprinkling in some time spent playing some different kinds of sports and games on our field and fun with water on the slip n slide. Afterwards it's time to master the art of campfire cooking, teaching self-reliance and practical outdoor skills. As the sun sets, they'll gather around a campfire for stories and peer-to-peer reflection, strengthening bonds with fellow campers. Campers head off to sleep in their tents for much needed rest and to prepare for the next day's activities. All of this happens in the midst of Northern Johannesburg's urban bushveld. It's two days packed with fun, skill-building, and memorable experiences, helping your child to become their absolute best selves.
